Join the free motorbike ride-out events at Dorset to improve skills

March 16th, 2017 by Sandy

With winter coming to an end and spring just around the corner, motorcyclists can brush up their skills, if they feel rusty. Free ride-out events and talks are being offered to motorcycle riders by the Dorchester and West Dorset Advanced Motorcyclists, teaming up with Dorset County Council. The idea is to brush-up and improve the techniques of motorcyclists after the winter lull. Advanced motorcycling instructors will offer potentially life-saving advice and provide feedback to improve, not only riding skills, but also draw more joy out of motorbike riding.

Road safety officer of Dorset County Council, Emma Selway, said like-minded people will enjoy the fun morning on their machines and it would refresh skills too, but also carries a serious message. It is not only an opportunity to meet other riders, but also to get some bespoke training provided by qualified instructors, the officer pointed out. She advised those interested should book as soon as possible a place, as they are limited. She said to take part in the ride-out, one has to have a bike of 250cc or above in class, proper insurance, an current applicable MOT certificate and a full licence.

The ride outs are arranged on 26th March, to be started at Harmans Cross Village Hall, near to Swanage. The next one is on 9th April, at the Swansea Centre in Weymouth. On 11th June there will one in Stalbridge, at the Community Hall. These free sessions on Sundays will start at 8:30AM, to finish at 1:00PM.
