Celebrate a free summer event this weekend, by joining a picnic with family and friends at East Riddlesden Hall, in Keighley, West Yorkshire. Enjoy the picnic in the great outdoors, from 11:00am to 3:00pm, on the 12th of July. The 17th-century manor is a great location, now owned by the National Trust. Yorkshire offers loads of places for a great picnic, offering from sandy beaches to garden retreats, woodland glades, spectacular cliff-tops and remote country corners.
Just turn up on the Sunday, whatever the weather. Everyone is invited to encourage the revival of this great British tradition of picnicking. They can be community groups, local schools or children’s centres or anybody else. Turn up with a picnic and blanket to relax and enjoy. Those who miss it on Sunday, can visit the grounds open on other days, daily between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
Use the picnic benches with family, friends and 4-legged friends, along the River Walk. Picnic benches are there in the play area too. Enjoy picnicking in the gardens and great spots further, at neighbouring Hardcastle Crags. Hebden Bridge offers over 400 acres of chaste woodlands. Find here the home of the northern hairy wood ant, glorious waterfalls, tumbling streams, millstone grit, spread over 24 km of footpaths, to enjoy a picnic or woodland walk. The family oriented visitor centre- Gibson Mill, tells you the history of the valley over its 200years. Mariam Barker is the Poet in Residence at East Riddlesden Hjall.
