A free event is being organised to take you on a “Biological pilgrimage” through the Epping Forest this summer. So, join in the Ancestor’s Tail, on 15th August, to retrace the steps of evolution and for returning symbolically to the beginning of life on Earth. Ancestor’s Trail will follow 8 separate routes. Each has been designed to guide walkers through the forest, experiencing a history of evolution. The free event has been inspired by Richard Dawkin.
Featured walks include the gazelle trail from Loughton and the amphibian trail from Epping. Along each trail, marshals will provide information on the evolutionary steps for the different animals. The human trail will be the longest route running from Chingford. Each route through the forest will converge in the “dawn of evolution”, ending in Cheshunt. The British Humanist Association has organised this free event, which aims to find our place in the ‘biodiversity machine’ called evolution and celebrate it.
