The Into Film Festival is coming again to screen over 150 films to the youth for free across Surrey, Kent and South London. The film festival returns next month from 9th to 25th November, as the world’s largest youth film festival that aims to introduce film, highlighting its educational benefits, to young people from the ages 5 to 19. A series of workshops with the Academy, with screenings and lessons will be held for them.
The festival kicks off with the blockbuster movie- The BFG, at the Vue West End. The event celebrates Roald Dahl’s centenary. It includes the screening of Matilda at the Odeon Wimbledon. With nearly 3,000 free screenings and also workshops, the festival is UK’s largest youth focused film festival with educational resources and Q&A sessions with industry leaders accompanying the programme. Schools can download teaching resources online.
As the screenings have free entry, Sir Kenneth Branagh said in support of the free event that it was an incredible opportunity for young people and they could watch something they may not see on their own, all for free. He hoped that the youth and teachers take advantage of this to get new insights, ideas and a passion for cinema.
