To celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child, Wycombe will be inviting women and girls around the community on 10th October to a free event. It is being held from 11:00am to 5:00pm, at Buckinghamshire New University, Queen Alexandra Road, High Wycombe.
The community event is a move to empower women, an opportunity for both girls and women to get together to share achievements and experiences here. The event is being hosted by the Thames Valley Police. Participants will find here local food hot-spots, enjoyable entertainment, a raffle and the NHS present, plus stalls on housing services, slavery and trafficking at the free event.
Deputy LPA Commander, Chief Inspector Becky Mears, said they are happy that young women and girls of Wycombe are coming together to share experiences, also seek advice and information. The International Day of the Girl Child, a United Nations Day, recognises that empowering and investing in girls help end violence and discrimination against females and with support of parents, families and communities, she added.
