International Games Day is an annual event and Hartlepool Central Library is organising on Saturday, 19th November, a Games Marathon to mark the day. Hartlepool Central Library will team up with tearoom and games shop- tea@Hart, to host the free event at the library from 10am to 2pm. The Games Marathon will host numerous traditional games. The fun continues after the library closes, at tea@Hart, offering a wide range of traditional and modern games.
The annual event will see this year more than 2,000 libraries across the world taking part . It presents an opportunity to gamers to find out what their local library has to offer. Hartlepool Borough Council Library Officer, Jackie Johnson, said playing together is a great social experience in modern and card games. It is an easy way to befriend new people without making small talk, as during silences the game will hold your attention, he pointed out. He added that since 2010, sale of board games is increasing annually and many unusual and creative games have been produced, which breathes new life into a hobby earlier dominated by Scrabble and Monopoly. All are welcome to the free event. For more information, contact Hartlepool Central Library on phone- 01429 272905. Otherwise email to central.library@hartlepool.gov.uk.
