Increase your Green footprint by joining the Free Tree Scheme 2011

September 23rd, 2011 by Sandy

Here is a golden opportunity to contribute to the green initiative and help your neighborhood through the Free Tree Scheme, 2011. The North West Leicestershire District Council and the National Forest Company have teamed up to offer you free trees to plant in your garden. The free tree offer has started as an initiative to bring green benefits to the society – magnificent autumn colours, lovely spring flowers, beautiful trees and bunches of berries and nuts. All residents living in the North West Leicestershire, South Derbyshire and East Staffordshire regions are eligible to order free tress for your gardens by contacting your local councils.

The free trees you get would all be two years old and approximately measure 60 to 90 cms in height. You will also be given a guidance sheet that instructs you on how to plant trees and care for them. You can choose up to two trees from Alder Buckthorn, Common Spindle, Bird Cherry and Hazel.

How Do I Order My Free Trees?

To order your pair of free trees, you have to fill up an online form, available here at http://footprints.nwleics.gov.uk/place-your-order-now.html or contact the customer service by calling 01530 454545. The offer closes on the 31st of October. Once you place an order, you will receive a confirmation letter along with a planting instruction sheet delivered by post. You can then collect your free trees from a location that will be communicated to you in the confirmation letter. Residents living in East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire may contact your local councils directly for placing an order.
