The first free event, Herefordshire Festival of Sport, is starting this Saturday (19th September), at 7.00AM at the King George V playing fields, which is open until 6.00PM. Its open again from 9.30AM to 4.00PM on Sunday (20th September). People can participate in a number of activities even if not entered for a race. The Festival Village opens its doors at 9.30AM.
A sports activity zone will host football and badminton, well-being activities like yoga and Tai-Chi, a local band playing and a young people zone. Adult race events are on both days. The Mini sportive is on Saturday, at 11.30AM and the mini marathon is on Sunday, at 1.00PM. Children can participate in these events. On Saturday, the Professional Hitter Road Race is fully booked with 80cyclists and starts at 2.00PM. The Ride Herefordshire Sportive offers amateur riders the 40km, 90km and 161km on Saturday. Running races include a marathon, half marathon and 10 km, on Sunday.
Entries can be accepted on the day, except for the 161km marathon or sportive. Registration has to be 30 minutes before the start. Everybody is invited to take part in the Festival Village Park and in the world-record attempt by breaking the record of most selfie photos shot in an hour, on Sunday, at 2.00PM.
