The Isle of Wight Pride event is expected to be one of the biggest free events to be held this year on the Isle of Wight. The organisers are happy to release the tickets to this much awaited UKPRIDE event to be held in July. It’s expected to bring into the island new visitors and can potentially boost the local economy up considerably during the weekend.

The main Pride event will be on 21st July, Saturday, on the Ryde Harbour Beach. Already plans are underway to make the event a promising weekend of laughter, love, political messages and also with entertainment of top class.

Adopting the theme #IOWnmydestiny, the event will focus will be on the rights won by LGBT+ across the world and on those still fighting for the right to ‘Own Their Destiny’. Pride is a registered charity and runs with support from donations, funding bids, sponsors and year-long fundraising events.

Pride Trustee, Yve White, said after the the first event, they were encouraged by the support from across the country and the second year people at Pride say is often the hardest, so pressure adds on being host of UKPride.

Pride Trustee Matt Bundy said their aim was to make a fully inclusive and family-friendly event and more so in 2018. They wish to make sure that anyone feeling isolated can take part and feel welcome, as they want Pride as accessible as possible, he added.

Pride Trustee Elspeth Moore said ecology is a big feature of Pride and they are working on it with Plastic Aware and Footprint Trust and also only allowing on the Pride site eco-friendly, non-plastic glitter.
