Coding is the language of computers and is a highly desirable skill in the modern world. An organisation in Cambridge is offering to teach coding to people at workshops that are free of charge. Codebar Cambridge is the organisation and its co-ordinator Robin Van Rijn is the one who started the non-profit initiative in London and then spread it to the city earlier this year. The organisation reaches out to enable unrepresented groups to learn in a safe, collaborative environment and help career opportunities.
Robin was a web-designer and learning to program was a move natural to him. His interest has made him take over the running of Codebar Cambridge. Now the workshop has a waiting list with over 80 people on it. The popularity of the programming workshop has increased and the group presently meets at the community workshop space- Makespace, on Mill Lane, Cambridge. The size of the venue is what is only stopping the group from expanding. They are seeking sponsorship to move to a bigger place. There are 3 different chapters set up in London by the growing movement of Codebar, besides the one in Cambridge and others in the United Kingdom and also the USA.
