Free workshops on re-use of household items by HFS

January 9th, 2017 by Sandy

Four workshop courses will be held by HFS Hastings and Bexhill, offering a real opportunity to learn creative and practical skills in an informal fun environment and in small groups. Spaces are available for the six-week courses, which are low-cost and open to all. But it is a free workshop to households receiving working tax credits or means-tested benefit. The courses are being run by the furniture re-use charity HFS, both at their Bexhill and Hastings stores.

The course at the Hastings store will teach you how to use decoupage, which is cutting and sticking of paper. Discover techniques to decorate your household items too. The four weekly sessions start from 10th January. At the Bexhill store, you can try out ‘Furniture Restoration’ starting 11th January. Here your can learn about tools you can use safely to bring back new life into small items of furniture. A 6-week ‘Carpentry for Beginners’ course will be started here on 12th January. On 13th January, there’s a ‘Paint Effects’ course on transforming a piece of furniture using different paint techniques in this course.

For details on the individual courses, go to the HFS site – www.hfs.co.uk. You can also drop in at any one of the HFS stores directly. HFS services Hastings and Rother, East Sussex, is an award winner, and is a registered charity and social enterprise.
