Get Online Week is being celebrated this year from October 15 to October 21, 2018. As a part of this, a series of free events will be taking place on how to become skilled in using internet between October 15 to 19 at Wyvern House, The Drumber, Winsford CW7 1AU. Get Online Week was started in 2007 and last year hosted 4000 events across the UK.
Cabinet Member for Economic Development & Infrastructure – Cllr Brian Clarke said that in the current scenario getting skills of doing personal or business things online will make everything easy. They are offering residents to use their technology available in the council buildings for online usage and for other tasks of getting council services or applying online for Universal Credit. Those who do not have confident on using internet can make use of the free events running during Get Online Week.
There are free weekly sessions for computer beginners which was started on Monday October 15 between 10 am – 12 noon.
There will be a special programme of “digital market street” which tells about the benefits of internet usage on Wednesday – 17th October 2018 at Wyvern House scheduled between 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. The session will cover knowledge/ advice on doing online shopping, how to find local health & well being services, searching for job vacancy online and managing Universal Credit account.
There will be free events for small businesses on Friday – October 19, 2018. “Boost Your Business Workshops” will be held and businesses in the area are being invited to take part in them to get knowledge by learning on business promotion using internet and social media.
There will be a “Digital Advertising” workshop at 10 am where businesses will get knowledge on how to attract new customers by using Google and online advertising.
Then “A Writing for Social Media” workshop will begin at 11.15 am and it describes about the techniques of writing in social media posts for better products promotion.
At 12.30 pm, there will be organised “A Social Media Strategy” workshop which will help the businesses in attracting customers using social media.
