Motorcyclists are being asked to take part in a free workshop – ‘BikeSafe’, to help the bikers improve riding skills and to stay safe on roads. Bikers from across North Wales are being encouraged to sign-up for free on this police-led project, where practical advice on road safety is offered, riders get educated by knowledge and skills passed on and will try to make them take up post-test Advanced Training.
The BikeSafe day is being supported by 6 local authorities and includes an ‘assessment ride’ for participating riders, who get vital feedback. Various locations of the free workshop include Porthmadog, Llanrwst, Colwyn Bay, St Asaph, Rhyl, Langfni and Deeside. With assistance of the North Wales Fire & Rescue Service, the workshops will be delivered, for the first time this year, to the general public on Angelsey.
The workshop aims to reduce the number of motorcyclists getting hurt on the roads. It will help riders explore the main riding hazards they face. Theory presentations and observed rides at a BikeSafe workshops help riders find out their strengths and weaknesses. The first free workshop of this year is on 10th March, Saturday, to be hosted at Llangefni Fire Station. Others will follow in July and September. Booking for spaces are being taken, but they are limited. All bikers interested are requested to book quickly to not miss out. Details of locations and the dates are listed on the website – bikesafe.co.uk.
