A recent deal between London Overground and The Cloud will offer free Wi-Fi services to commuters across 56 stations in London. Hopefully, the service will be available in time for Olympic Games. The rollout is expected to begin in summer and will be completed by this year end. Commuters nearby the station can have access to Wi-Fi service. Once people register, they can use the free internet for 60 minutes everyday at each station.
No extra costs will be charted on the tax payer and no increase will be made in fares, claims London Overground. Managing director of London Overground, Steve Murphy said that this initiative will allow people to connect to the wireless internet effectively when they are on the move. Free Wi-Fi services will make the travelling comfortable for passengers. Before 2012, stations including Willesden Junction, West Hampstead, New Cross Gate, Forest Hill, Dalston, Wapping, West Croydon, Surrey Quays and Shepherd’s Bush can benefit from free wireless service.
During the Olympic and Paralympic Games, customers can access internet via Wi-Fi installed in underground stations on a pay-as-you-go basis. Transport for London (TfL) travel information can be connected and viewed by the passengers. Agreement between The Cloud and London Overground is sure to benefit a number of travellers.
