Heritage Open Days are an integral part of the series of events held every year and visitors are being offered to be allowed in free of charge.
The previous week found a huge banner across Corsham High Street announcing the arrival of Heritage Open Days into the city.
The Open Days would be arranged by the Corsham Civic Society and forms an integral part of succession of national events the main objective of which is to expose the concealed and unexplained architectural and chronological phenomena.
Michael Rumsey, the Chairman, stated that in this his third consecutive year as chairman of Corsham Civic Community, remarked that this was a terrific event as it ensured that all the people living in that whole area would be involved.
He went on to say that he was emphasizing this as it would give people the chance to pay a visit to Hartham Park Chapel that was constructed by the Victorian architect Philip Charles Hard-wick in the 1850s., and being run by an individual trust it is seldom open to visitors.
Some of the other programmes during the heritage Open Days would feature a lecture by Nick McCamley, the author of the book “Secret Underground Cities that explains about the strange and puzzling history of the tunnels and storehouse of ammunitions that were under Corsham and Monkton Farleigh. There would also be guides to take visitors round the town as well as St Bart’s Church.
The event would be a four-day long affair commencing on the 6th of September and would end on the 9th. The tickets that are being offered free can be availed of from Corsham Information Centre and interested people can look up the official website by logging on to www.corsham-civic-society.co.uk for details about the complete programme.
