The Macular Disease Society charity and See Hear Centre in Barnstaple teams together to put forward free tuitions that will help improve the sight condition of people affected by macular disease. The free sessions on specialist techniques and skills will enable people to live life on their own. In the UK, many people lose sight because of this disease. New venture gives the affected people a chance to master special skills and techniques to use their peripheral vision better. This muscular disease effect the central vision and it will result in sight loss. With sight loss, people find difficult to perform their day to day tasks.

The disease can take form of age-related macular degeneration or a juvenile macular dystrophy. Once, affected people will  find it hard to recognise people or do things like watching TV, reading, walking and cooking. Known as Eccentric Viewing (EV) and Steady Eye Strategy (SE), the skills will be taught to the people on one to one basis. See Hear Centre’s Janette Marshall said that by offering such assistance to people, they could bring a great difference in the patient’s life.
