Free training on prevention of suicide at West Berkshire

There has been a free training event on suicide prevention organised on Friday – February 15, 2019 at West Berkshire’s Council Offices, Market St, Newbury RG14 5LD. The session will be held between 9 am to 1 pm on the day.

The West Berkshire Suicide Prevention Action Group is organising the free training session. The training is focused on those in the situation where their friends, collegues, family or clients had a thought leading to suicide. The organising team is bringing a team of experts on the day to provide basic tools to the participants on how to keep someone safe.

The WBSPA Group was formed by the Director of Volunteer Centre West Berkshire Garry Poulson in May 2017 to execute the Berkshire Suicide Prevention Strategy and works along with the Health and Wellbeing Board. They will organise various training programmes to employers and suicide awareness campaigns.

Garry Poulson – Founder & Chairman of WBSPAG will give a welcome to the participants and screening of a short play of “Better Do Something Than Nothing”.

Dr.Gill Cresswell – Consultant Psychiatrist will explain about the reasons behind suicide thoughts, its background and how it can be better understood.

Tina Lucas & Yani Choculingam, who are Clinical Educators, will host a myth-busting session and Q&A session where you can raise your queries.
