A sports academy in Netherton, the Elite Sports Academy, has helped school pupils from Our Lady of Walsingham with a free training session. The budding coaches of the academy at Netherton Activity Centre train youngsters and they have presented a range of drills and activities to these schoolchildren at a free event. The young pupils were given the chance to take part and learn the basics of a number of sports, ranging from cricket to hockey. There are different branches of the academy for specific sports or skills. The academy stages free training sessions for local schools supervised by qualified PE teachers.
The academy offers the opportunity to earn the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sports Performance and Excellence qualification, as part of going further on to coach at professional level. If schools wish to use the free training sessions offered, or if students of the schools are interested in joining the academy, they may call 07919 550067 for more details.
