At Gosport, on the south coast of England, is Explosion, the Museum of Naval Firepower. A behind the scenes tour of its Armopury, not usually open to the public, will be hosted on the 5th of October (Sunday), starting from 11am and for one hour. This special tour is part of the Silver Sunday, an annual day of free activities and fun for older people all over the UK. This free event is also part of the older person’s month by the Gosport Borough Council.

Operations manager Marc Farrance, at the Museum of Naval Firepowr, said that they were happy to offer this rare opportunity to view some unique items usually not on display to the public, as part of Silver Sunday. He also said 80% of the collection is stored behind the scenes. Unique guns that can be viewed include a set of extremely rare Pederson rifles (1920), several pistols the German fleet surrendered in 1918 at Scapa Flow and a Winchester 73 Rifle.

Although tickets are free, advance booking is required . To know more and for information on events, please visit www.explosion.org.uk. Or alternately call the museum by phone on 023 9250 5600.
