The major literary festival, the Portsmouth BookFest, will feature on the opening night of its launch on 23rd October, the ‘Fairy-Tales for Grown Ups’ event, at Portsmouth Guildhall, from 7:30PM onwards. A gathering of the writers will publish the anthology of the Portsmouth Fairy Tales project. They who are behind the project, join to celebrate this on the opening night of the city’s literary festival. The literary event is a 2-week festival that hosts author talks that range from writers like M C Beaton (crime), poetry, historical events, to school events and a Gruffalo Tea Party.
One of the writers involved in the ‘Fairy-Tales for Grown Ups’ is author Tessa Ditner. The project features stories and a fairy tale, with a map of famous writers, like Shirley Conran and Nell Gaiman, who have links to the city. Tessa Ditner remarked that the map had to be inclusive and also remind people that maybe the next Conan Doyle or Dickens could be living on their street.
