A free fireworks spectacle will light up the sky in Hull, above the Humber, on 1st January, 2017, for the opening of Hull City of Culture event. To get the best view one has to get a free ticket, of which tens of thousands will be made available. It will begin at sharp 8:17pm (or 20:17) on New Year’s Day. On a date yet to be confirmed in October, a batch of 15,000 free tickets will be released .
The creators of the display, Titaniym Fireworks, had previously worked the fireworks spectaculars for both the London Olympic of 2012 and the Paralympics, Edinburgh Hogmany. They are also working for the 50th anniversary celebrations of Forth Road Bridge and for Blackpool Illuminations. They have worked previously on London’s New Year’s Eve event and for the Rugby World Club 2015 (England).
DJ Cheeba the globe-trotting music star, will present an ‘audio visual’ soundtrack to accompany the fireworks. The City of Culture website- hull2017.co.uk, will be offering the free tickets. Full details on the tickets will be available in The Mail a little later.
