Portsmouth is about to be host to its biggest sporting spectacle ever, the Portsmouth America Cup, the World Series 4-day sporting and entertainment sea event. The organisers are giving away 30,000 daily tickets free, for the waterfront festival arena, but 10,000 free tickets have been kept aside to be given to Portsmouth residents for the extravaganza running from 23rd July to 26th July. Free tickets are being made available for Post Codes PO1 to PO6. Tickets will be available online, besides other tickets for sale. Book your tickets at ticketmaster.co.uk/ACWSPortsmouth.
As Sir Ben Ainslie brings to Southsea this prestigious event, some 14,000 people, as spectators, are expected at the seafront to watch the grand racing event, taking place right next to the Southsea Common, with many others watching on the big screens strewn across the city. Leslie Greenhalgh of Team Origin, the event director, said he did not want Portsmouth residents to miss out the free tickets and urged sports fans to get their tickets quickly, before they are gone. Chairman of the event, Sir Keith Mills, said the event will be taking the centre-stage in UK in the month of July, as this is the first time that in an official America’s Cup event in UK waters, a British America’s Cup team will be seen racing, since 1851.
