‘The History Boys’, voted as the nation’s favourite play, will be touring Britain again. It will be visiting the Grand Opera House in York and performing here from 8th June to 13th June. Preceding this show is the run at Hull New Theatre, from 16th February to 21st February.
This Sell A Door Theatre’s production is touring Britain, after winning the English Touring Theatre’s national survey to celebrate their 21st anniversary. 100 pairs of free tickets to the play are being given away by the English Touring Theatre. Alan Bennet’s play, ‘The History Boys’, was first premièred in 2004 at National Theatre, directed by Nicholas Hytner. It later opened in Broadway during 2006 and also made into a film that year by Hytner. In this tour, the play is directed by Kate Saxon, who is an accomplished director and also directs for BBC1, the episodes of East Enders.
Sell A Door’s artistic director, David Hutchison, is happy to be launching the 2015 series, reviving the nation’s favourite play by a most cherished playwright. In partnership with English Touring Theatre, subsidising tickets to allow free entry for hundreds of first time patrons, is to engage young adults in live theatre, he added.
