Free tennis events is back across Belper thanks to Great British Tennis Weekend. Across the county free tennis events will be offered on 13th and 14th June, with one coming to Duffield too. As part of a national programme, the event is backed by Annabel Croft, former number one player in Britain. It’s backed also by Gabby Logan, leading broadcaster and also former international gymnast.
As tennis fever grips the country before the iconic Wimbledon Championships, this programme offers families and friends an opportunity to learn about the game. They can pick up a tennis racket and have a go. Paul Cummins who is regional tennis education officer, LTA in the Midlands, said that with Great British Tennis Weekend hitting Derbyshire, there are so many clubs and park sites across the county running free events, giving something for everyone, and hoped that families will take the opportunity. Participants will get the opportunities to try out in a fun and relaxed environment with different sessions, like tennis coaching, Highland Spring Mini Tennis and Cardio Tennis being offered.
