The Boldon Squash Club in South Tyneside is opening its doors to let people get a chance to try their hand at squash. Visitors to the squash club on Sunderland Road, in East Boldon, will be allowed to play free on Sundays, throughout September, from 2PM to 4PM.
A nationwide push to help people try out this racquet sport has been initiated by the England Squash and Racketball and ‘The Big Hit’. The sport has proved popular with spectators at the recent Commonwealth Games. The free sessions are open to all, of any age or ability. Coach Keith Foster of the club said they thought the Sunday Social events would be the chance to let people try out the sport. There have been lots of interest from people, such as mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, as this is a great sport for families to get fit and involved, he added.
