The Hykeham Sailing Club at Apex Gravel Pit, Lincoln, is an officially approved RYA Training Centre. It is now offering the RYA dinghy sailing course. Anybody (aged from 8 to 80) can get the chance now for a free taster, to discover about dinghy sailing and about the course being offered by Hykeham SC and its training facility, Lincoln and District Sailing Association (LDSA), this summer.
Anyone interested can come on 16th May, as part of the national RYA Push the Boat Out initiative, to experience what the warm and family-friendly sailing clubs can offer. The 9-day long, nation-wide sailing festival, RYA Push the Boat Out, aims at introducing newcomers (of all abilities and experience) to the sport of sailing for free, or at a low cost.
Hykeham SC is also offering Taster Days on 9th May, 25th July and on 29th August for all who wish to get to know the sport before choosing a course. Booking a place is essential and includes refreshments and lunch for the day. Hykeham SC works closely with LDSA in fostering racing skills of promising youngsters. In last year’s Push the Boat Out events that were hosted at 260 sailing clubs and water-sport centres in Uk, 17,000 people participated for the first time in sailing or windsurfing sessions.
