The National Watersports Festival is a water sports event, known as the people’s festival in the UK. The ultimate of aim of this festival is to bring joy and fun in a wonderful atmosphere with more number of participants and taster sessions enjoyable by all. The NWF has been conducted for the past 10 years and the organisers has shifted the location of the event from Hayling Island in Hampshire to Rutland Water from last year.
This year, National Watersports Festival will be held from Friday – 8th June to Sunday 10th June at Rutland Water, Sykes Lane, Empingham, Oakham LE15 8PX, United Kingdom. Like last years, this year also NWF will have free taster sessions of Standup Paddle Boarding, Windsurfing, Kayaking. As an addition, this year Dinghy sailing is being introduced. These sessions are being done with the support of the Royal Yatching Association. Scuba diving into Rutland water will be brought by PADI as ‘have a go’ sessions. Beyond sailing, the visitors can also enjoy live music and get the best local produce.
The taster sessions will be from friday afternoon and other two full days. These are the friendly sessions and is open to all with the age of 8 years and above. Anyone with disbility can also take part in Dinghy taster sessions along with the instructors.
The organisers along with its sponsors Anglian Water and Grainstore Brewery has planned to combine NWF with the Rutland Festival for which admission fee is chargeable to walk in.
Will Kirstein – Rutland Water Manager said that last year’s NWF had a great success with water activities. Rutland Water has all the facilities to conduct the events and will be a great event to attract all ages from beginners to professionals. So the partcipants can enjoy sailing, racing, talks, local produce shops, demos, clinics, camping, trade show and live music as a part of this summer festival.
