There has been free taster sessions organized at Steyning Bowls Club on every Thursday in this May at Memorial Playing Fields, Mill Road, Steyning, West Sussex, BN44 3LN. The sessions will start at 6 pm.
The club was formed in the year 1933. However women were not allowed until 1969. Now the club is celebrating 50 years of Women members’ admission on Wednesday – May 1, 2019. The amount collected as fee from the first women member was £2.10 with a cost of 25p for cost of dressing room mirror. They are affiliated to Bowls England and Sussex Bowls.
They are also allowing non players as social members to join the club and use the facilities of bar and the social events. They are also holding open days on May 5 & May 27 at 2 pm. You will get a chance to try bowling and enjoy with fun.
Sheila Barnes – The women’s Captain said that they want to make this a year to remember and they will celebrate inviting old members to join for a special tea. They will be busy engaging in games and local competitions. Bowls is a more relaxed and friendly game. There is no requirement to wear skirts, hats and gloves for women. They adopt casual approach with enjoyment and social side in the game. They invite new members with any level of experience and free taster sessions on Thursdays in May.
