The Shoebox Theatre is a studio of performance and arts space located in Swindon and managed by Wrong Shoes Theatre Company. The theatre is hosting varied programme of contemporary theatre and new work and also providing best of performance and acting training. They are providing complete training to beginners to professional actors.
The theatre was earlier located at Theatre Square and now moving to a big building at Health Hydro, Milton Road, Swindon SN1 1JA. There has been free taster sessions organized on Saturday – January 26, 2019 at their open day.
SHOEBOX MINIS
Taster session for those aged between 4-6 years between 9.30 am to 10.15 am where the students can experience drama classes and they can also meet the tutors. These classes give creativity, confidence through games and imaginative action.
SHOEBOX JUNIORS
Taster session for those aged between 7-10 years between 11 am to 12 noon where the students can experience drama classes and they can also meet the tutors. These classes will help them to learn techniques through fun and with workshops.
ACTING FOR AGES 11-14
Taster session for those aged between 11-14 years between 1 pm to 2 pm where the students will get training on various techniques, theatrical forms that give confidence and help to know acting techniques in a fun and easy way.
SHOEBOX YOUNG COMPANY FOR AGES 15-18
Taster session for those aged between 15-18 years between 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm for those passionate on acting and theatre and they can know more on advanced techniques and methods of drama. They can take part in performance led by professionals for which entrance is by audition only planning later this year.
Artistic Director of the Shoebox Theatre – Luke Marquez said that as their existing building is not having enough space for expansion, they are moving to an iconic building at Health Hydro which is bigger one having separate space for office, studio and dressing rooms. The building is perfect for both for classes and theatre with high roof ceiling. The theatre offers a great platform for talented artists in Swindon. Wrong Shoes Theatre Company has great news that they got funding from Arts Council for their next show.
