A new choir group has been set up by the arts charity OYAP and contributed £10000 for the Soul of Bicester Choir. OYAP stands for Oxfordshire Youth Arts Partnership. OYAP Trust work along with Oxforshire community and various organizations in the area to satisfy youth’s needs with creative projects. Their projects make youngsters to get an opportunity to realize their skills, build confidence and self esteem.
The new choir has organized for free taster sessions on Saturday – February 2, 2019 between 2 pm to 4 pm and Thursday – February 7, 2019 between 7.30 pm to 9 pm at StudiO2, their new community arts venue in the old St Edburgs’ School, Cemetery Road, Bicester OX26 6BB.
The charity is inviting all the residents irrespective of any ages to come and sing along with all. The choir is one of their projects that encourages to drive people and boost their well being as singing will have a positive impact on health. They have got a grant of £10000 from the National Lottery which will be used in creating a theatre studio at the charity’s base.
Director Helen Le Brocq said that there are more of good reasons to join the choir as singing has been proven to bring a positive impact on health & well-being on anyone. To get socialise, finding new friends and get together will enable people to stay happy and get good impact.
There is no age restriction to join the choir and no need for prior experience as you can learn. Earlier OYAP was focusing on young people. But they want to reach more people located in and around Bicester in their new venue to transform it as a cultural hub for all.
There will be official launch of the choir held on Thursday – February 28 between 7.30 pm to 9 pm.
