The Westbury Area Wellbeing is celebrating World Tai Chi Day. The group is offering a taster session and workshop on Tai Chi for free, this April, to celebrate it. On 25th April, Saturday, a free all-day event will run from 9.30am to 4.00pm, hosted by the Wellbeing Tai Chi group, to celebrate World Tai Chi Day, in association with a number of other town groups. The free event in Westbury Leigh, Wiltshire, will have the existing group members on hand to host sample sessions, offer information and to demonstrate the advantages of taking part. However on 22nd April, Wednesday, there will also be a free workshop, where people can learn some basic movements and try out a real session.
Tai Chi originated in 13th century China and developed as a martial art form, but is today practised as a health promoting exercise around the world. The exercise combines relaxation and deep breathing, with slow, gentle movements. Jen Bravery presently runs the wellbeing group and regular sessions are held in the Grassacres Hall from 10am to 11am and in the Church Hall (Westbury Leigh) from 2pm to 3pm, both on Wednesdays.
