Dance lovers can try out for morris dance here. There has been a free taster session organised by the Wicket Brood Border Morris Club on Tuesday – October 23, 2018 at St.Stephen’s Hall, Station Road Bricket Wood. The session is being scheduled in the evening between 8 pm to 10 pm.
The club was formed in the year 1994 and they have members of mixed-sex who perform in the Border tradition style of dance. They practice and perform dances originating from various sources such as some from documented dance notations practised several years before by original Border teams of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Even their costumes are also based on traditional ones having a colourful sight. This includes vibrant colours of purple, green or black dresses dancing with sticks, hats and face paint.
The team participated in a Guinness World Record attempt for the many dancers performing Morris dancing simultaneously. This was attempted at Potty Festival in Sheringham (Norfolk) with 369 dancers performed for over 7 minutes continuously with the background bands of Wicket Brood. It was really a fantastic news.
The club is encouraging people to take part in their free session to experience more on morris dancing. To know more about free taster session please contact Kevin at squire@wicketbrood.org.uk or visit their website http://www.wicketbrood.org.uk/.
