National storytelling Week is celebrated in the most unique and exciting way this year. Special events are organized during the week, beginning from 28 January to 4 February. People from across the community are encouraged to partake and enjoy storytelling. This is the 12th year National Storytelling Week. To celebrate the week, The Royal Company Storytellers is organizing free storytelling performed by the troupe of The Theatre Royal. Scheduled on Sunday 29 January, beginning from11am to 3pm, the free storytelling will attract many. An array of popular and traditional tales will be performed by the troupe.
This will be an amazing experience for children as well as for adults.
Storytelling one of the oldest communicative arts is losing its charm but with events like this the art is brought to life again. The storytellers will be in medieval surroundings of the Sheriff’s Bastion, near the doorway of the Castle. Since, it is located at the entrance of the castle, the entrance is free. Other attractions during the week include Totstimes and Storytimes sessions, ‘Bear Hunt’ at the Central Library on February 4. This even is organized for children under 8yrs old and is absolutely free.
The Council House is the venue for storytelling on Wednesday 1 February. During this event, Sheriff of Nottingham and his lady, and guests will enjoy Robin Hood tales. Amanda Smith. Amanda Smith will be the Storyteller for the event. Tickets for the event is free of cost and is perfect for producers, event organizers and promoters. Storytelling Week will help children cultivate the reading habit. Part of Nottingham’s Year of Reading initiative, the Storytelling Week opens up free events to be enjoyed by parents and children.
