Free-spirited event Musicircus, soon at Wells

March 3rd, 2016 by Sandy

The new event Wells Musicircus is a day of innovation and celebration, that is to be held on 18th June, Saturday, from 11:00am. It will start off from the Wells Market Place where hundreds of musicians and performers will gather to make a joyous, free-spirited musical market place. The group will make its way to Cathedral Green, to join a picnic at 1:00pm, to celebrate the new Wells concert hall, Cedar’s Hall, and space for performing arts.
This free event is one of the largest gatherings of musicians in Wells, that welcomes all Somerset musicians and circus performers, no matter what age or style of music. Musicircus has been coined and inspired by John Cage, the composer, to promote his idea of performing simultaneously in large spaces by free-spirited performers. Taking part will be local musicians of Wells City Brass Band and the Wookey Choir. Some of the musicians form Wells Cathedral School along with a variety of circus acts, local and community musicians, will be joining in.
Dominique Swain, the music outreach co-ordinator of Wells Cathedral School said that to make this musical and circus celebration memorable, they look forward to lots of replies to fill up Market Place, Cedar’s Field, Vicars Close and Cathedral Green. To join the free event, fill up an application form online, prior to 22nd April and contact- musicircus@wells-cathedral-school.com.
