The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) is offering a free skills and safety riding assessment sessions until the end of July. The 60-minute assessment is being offered to any motorcyclist in the UK. IAM has joined hands with Kawasaki UK to mark the launch of #IAMRideFree, the free taster campaign. Lee Bowers, the stunt riding champion backed by Kawasaki, and Emma Selway, car and bike racer, have joined the skills competition. They have been given a set of slow riding challenges. The tasks were set by Richard Gladman and Mark Lewis, the riding experts at IAM.
Lee Bowers remarked that the high-speed riding he loves, must be in a safe place, not on the road. He has taught himself to do different stunts at slow speed and spent time, to learn how it should be done, at the IAM. Emma Selway said it is easy for her who spent time on tracks, to forget the importance of slow speed skills. However she proved that not just riding at speed, but that there is great deal of fun in learning slow-speed skills that are rewarding and self-satisfying. Mark Lewis added that people don’t realise that a little more training can greatly increase the enjoyment. To know more about IAM’s free sessions for riders, go to website- iam.org.uk/riderfree.
