Free singing workshops are to be held, allowing the public to participate and recreate the songs of the oceans, thanks to the Ocean Song project. This is for the Whale Hall, home to the giant finback whale skeleton, where it is to be played when the venue reopens after refurbishment. The Finback Whale Skeleton of the Museum of Zoology in Cambridge, is an awe-inspiring and iconic specimen.
Honouring the giant mammal’s skeleton, a series of 20 workshops will be conducted around the area soon. These workshops would explore how animals produce and perceive sounds. It will give the participating singers the chance and the confidence to exploit their own voices. Chris Watson is the well-known sound artist who worked alongside the famous David Attenborough. One of the finest recorders of the natural world, he will be leading a highly participatory workshop. Rowena Whitehead, a voice teacher and community choir leader, would also be helping participants in the project. The free workshop is open to all persons aged above 8 years.
