The University of Exeter is offering to the residents of Cornwall with a chance to learn something new or return back to education. They will be offering short courses & free taster sessions.
There is no need for any training or knowledge required for attending the courses and not required to take up further. If you are interested, you can take part in it and gain knowledge. This will help in developing knowledge and skills to manage at the workplace or for preparation to job searching and also provides information on higher education. As a part of the Widening Participation Through Skills Project – a project funded by the European Social Fund, the University is offering these courses.
The following free sessions are being held at the University of Exeter, Penryn Campus, Penryn, Cornwall TR10 9FE.
Free taster on Green Consultant:
The session will take place on Monday – June 25 and the award winning training program of facilitated learning for those who wants to take up their career on environmental or sustainability focus, is being offered between 10 am to 2 pm. The participants can get knowledge on how to effect sustainability in the business.
Colour Accounting Workshop:
The free workshop will take place on Tuesday – July 3, the Colour Accounting™ workshop will be conducted by the University between 9.30 am to 2 pm. The session will give knowledge on how to present financial information using diagrams and colours. The main system of the diagram is the BaSIS Framework™ which will give a graphical view of financial statements such as income statements & balance sheet. The system is very creative with colours, language, visualisation and simplicity.
Free Taster on Geology & Gems
the free session will take place on Tuesday – August 28 between 10 am to 2 pm and it is conducted by Camborne School of Mines. The session will offer insight to geology and gems suitable to jewellery makers and those interested on the topic.
Along with the free sessions, the participants will be given information about educational courses, support available and a tour within campus with lunch.
Short Term Courses 2018:
The University of Exeter offers free short courses online and across Cornwall. Already two courses are on going and other courses yet to begin are Mining 101 & Political Participation in My Community.
Course on Mining 101
The course will start from 16th July to 5th October both online and in the Penryn Campus and will have detailed insight on mining and wide understanding of the mining industry. The course will be taught over 12 weeks primarily online through online lectures, PPT presentations, references, documents in pdf, videos, etc and 3 half day sessions will be held at the campus (dates will be intimated soon).
Course on the Political Participation in My Community
The course will start on 12th September at ClayTAWC, St Dennis near St Austell between 12 noon to 3 pm of 12 Weeks of every Wednesday. The course will cover theory on politics as well as conducting research in communities to gain practical knowlege.
