After a successful run in the first year in Cumbria, the Girls Golf Rocks will be returning and next month to the Barrow Golf Club (Lake District). This is part of the campaign to widen the appeal of the sport of golf and bring more youngsters into it, and they are hoping to repeat the hit again this year. Last year saw 60 children taking part, of which 42 went onto take up coaching.
Four clubs across Cumbria are taking part in the scheme and Barrow will be in the focus of attention down south. The golf club will hold the free session on 21st April (Saturday) and will follow up by group coaching courses, which will have PGA professionals and support from county squads. The session is open to all girls regardless of any impairment they have.
After the taster sessions, each golf club will be offering a 5-week coaching course run by PGA golfers. The new players will get invitation to a fun day. Here they get the chance to play on a real golf course, featuring challenges in multi-skills, with young ambassadors from the county squads.
