Free Schools may allow fascism to sprout

Free Schools Fascism ClaimsThe leader of a teaching union, the NASUWT, Mr. Patrick Roach, who is the deputy general secretary of the union, pointed out that deregulation of schools could create a climate for racism and fascism to grow in and out of the campus. He was speaking at the Labour Party Conference, in a fringe meeting on ‘Unite Against Fascism’, when he accused of the Education Secretary Michael Gove, of creating a risk of increase of fascist activities surfacing in native English schools, instead of responsible citizenship and multicultural values. He pointed out that privatising schools may make a problem of organised racism and fascism at schools. Presently nothing can stop extremists from setting up a private school. Countering the accusation, a Department of Education spokesperson said, all individuals were examined when applying to set up a free school. Proposers should clearly establish that they would promote fundamental values and equal opportunities for all as per the British system. Teachers found with discriminating attitude, extremist views or inappropriate bias will be acted upon or removed, the spokesperson said.
