Younger residents of Uttoxeter are being invited to celebrate the festive spirit by following Santa’s Christmas Trail. The free event will be launched at Redfern’s Cottage-Museum of Uttoexter Life, on Saturday (12 December), coinciding with the school holidays and Christmas, as part of the month-long festive series. The festive event runs up to 23rd December (Wednesday). Opening times from Tuesday to Friday, are from 10:00am to 1:00pm, with Saturday (19 December) having extended hours.
Children will get the chance to explore the galleries of this historic museum on Carter Street. They will be trying to search for clues to Santa Claus’ puzzle. A participant solving the puzzle will win a small gift. Children can dress up as characters of the past and also get an opportunity to make traditional Christmas lanterns, visit Santa’s workshop and winter wonderland. Find here a display on the First World War Christmas Day truce. A day when German and British troops exchanged gifts and played football.
A spokesman said the museum has a month-long festive event that started on 28 November, and shows how Christmas was celebrated over the ages. A welcome addition to the free event is Santa’s Christmas Trail. The museum will provide period costumes to visitors, combined with carols, music and story-telling.
