January 12th, 2017 by Sandy

A free event is being hosted for learner drivers, their parents, newly qualified drivers and driving instructors, to help improve road safety. The workshop is being hosted by the Staffordshire Safe Roads Partnership, on 26th January ( Thursday), at Stafford’s Staffordshire Police Headquarter in Beaconside.

The free workshop aims to highlight the importance of safe driving, with topics like drink and drug driving, driving using mobile phones, driving on rural roads, Tyre Safety, Winter Driving and vehicle modification, to be discussed.

A new website has been hosted – newdrivers.info. The site has resources and advice on many things like general safety tips, choosing a good driving instructor or a first car and useful videos, with also downloadable guides for free.

Research suggests that considering 18 to 24 year-olds who are driving within 6 months of passing their test, 23% have been involved in a collision.

Mark Deaville, the cabinet member, at the county council, for Transport and Highways, while speaking on behalf of the Partnership, said one of the top priorities is to keep roads safe and their roads are among the safest in the country.
