Pennine buses belonging to the company that wound up in 2014, will be offering free rides to commuters in Craven (North Yorkshire) on 8th October, Saturday. The three buses are to spend a whole day, re-visiting some of the routes they ran earlier for the former bus service.
On Saturday, hourly bus services will start form Skipton Bus Station and run to Embsay, Carleton and then around the Horse Close Circular. The bright orange buses will not take fares but will use same routes and timetables as Pennine Motors had done earlier. Additionally, boosting the existing service operated by Kirkby Lonsdale Coach Hire, the Pennine buses will run from Skipton to Settle and Malham too. The following Sunday, Skipton will have a big selection of vintage coaches and buses from many areas, on display in a line up and offering free rides without fare.
Pennine Motors ran their distinctive orange buses in Skipton and the Dales for 89 years before stopping services in the district in 2014. Loca people were thus deprived of bus services to Embsay and Carleton on Saturdays, or on the Skipton Horse Close Circular.
