In its second year, the Lewes Hike and Bike Festival (to run from 27 May to 31 May) will be offering retro bike rides and Nordic walking amongst the unusual activities planned this year. The festival aims to give inexperienced and old hands, a choice of off-road distance ride to family rides. The free rides and walks intend to help people to experience the beautiful countryside.
The Retro Ride on 31 May, Saturday, encourages people to ride their retro racer or shopping bike, on a leisurely 15 mile ride, dressed in retro clothing for the occasion, with no Lycra. Experienced Nordic walkers can take the 8.5 mile trek- The Nordic Walk, on 30 May, Friday, led by experienced instructors. Anyone can join the family bike ride on 29 May, Thursday, but only those who can safely ride. The East Sussex County Council will have its Bikeability team to give training on road safety skills on 31 May, Saturday, as part of the free events of the Festival Fair.
