Free pop up event for children with type 1 diabetes at Horsham

Type 1 Diabetes charity GT1 (Go Type 1) has organized for a free pop up event on Saturday – February 9, 2019 at Unit 45, Swan Walk Shopping Centre, 12 Medwin Way, Horsham RH12 1HQ. The event will take place between 9 am to 5 pm. The event is being sponsored by Horsham Lions Club. They are offering drinks and snacks for the attendees and they can meet the founder of the charity Chloe Parrott and her parents.

The charity is supporting the children who are suffering with type 1 diabetes and their family members in Horsham. The charity was formed in June 2015 by 17 year old Chloe when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She then wanted to support children with this problem.

Sarah Parrott said that their pop-up shop at Swan Walk Shopping centre where everything will be free and thanking Horsham Lions Club for sponsorship. The event will offer various fun based crafts, games and competitions for children and provides information on type 1 diabetes.

GT1 organises regular monthly meeting on first Tuesday of every month at the Phoenix Stroke Club, Comptons Lane, Horsham and invite children, parents, carers to have a creative space for kids and youngsters (0 to 18 years) having type 1 diabetes. They also offer free, fun, interactive teacher training on the ways how type 1 diabetes is affecting the children at school and providing tips to teacher s and staffs an insight on this type of diabetes.

Chloe said that they are offering fun based awareness meetings and community group activities. Those parents and kids attended their meetings said that they did not feel alone now with the help of the charity and they stand together to fight against type 1 diabetes.

Two years back, the charity got funding support from the Horsham Lions Club when they looked out for a candidate to enter Young Ambassador’s Competition.

Lion Tom Osborne said that Chloe was an exceptional lady after seeing her presentation and they allowed entering Chloe for their district competition. Chloe won the competition and given with £500 by the district for improving their charity. She also took part in the finals of The Young Ambassador’s Competition and though she did not win, the lions club helped her in paying for a leaflet for her promotional work. The club also helped with their support to the charity in the past 2 years.
