There will be a monthly Open Streets festival that celebrates unique history and landscape of Leicester on Sunday – May 26, 2019 running from 1 pm to 4 pm. The free event is happening around New Market Square and streets covering Friar Lane and Millstone Lane. The events will feature guided walks, craft session for kids, Rickshaw rides etc. all the activities are free.
The roads will be closed to manage traffic and celebrate the festival by people and also there will be lots of activities and games organized by local shops and businesses and lead talks by experts, guided walks, and rickshaw rides to find the heritage of Greyfriars area. This month is themed with Arts and Crafts and there will be craft sessions for kids on historic arts/crafts.
There will be a talk by Rowan Roenisch of National Trust on Stoneywell & the Arts & crafts movement mainly about Ernest Gimson – the architect & designer at 2.15 pm. At 3 pm, there will be talk by Andrew French about 21st Century’s design.
The visitors can enjoy street food and drink where you can get on-street pizza oven outside the Two-Tailed Lion, in Millstone Lane. There will be free bike park and free repairs.
