August 19th, 2016 by Sandy

The Hamilton Community Fire Station will be hosting a free open day on 20th August (Saturday) at the station premises. The free event will be held from 12 noon to 4pm, at the station located on Bothwell Road, Hamilton, South Lanarkshire. Members of the public will get an opportunity to witness fire-fighters in action with partner organisations. They will see rescue of casualties from roofs, road crash demonstrations, chip pan fire demonstrations and a special appearance of the rescue dog Diesel. There will also be food and drinks with inflatables, face painting and ‘beat the goalie’ for kids.

The ambulance service and police of South Lanarkshire Council will also be present. Davie Murdock, Station Manager, said it would be a fantastic family afternoon out for all and with important safety messages. Jim Clark, Watch Manager, said that important well-being and health information are available at the 25 different stalls there, plus the chance to win some great prizes in the charity raffle. Check out the Facebook page of the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service for more information on the free event.
