The latest series of motivational talks, that aims to give pupils an evening of inspiration, will be held on the 30th November, in Oxford. This the fourth of the series, run by New College School, Savile Road. It will be held at the physical and theoretical chemistry lecture hall of Oxford University. New College School in Central Oxford, was founded to educate New College’s choristers in 1379, as an independent pre-prep and prep school.
The programme will present pupils talks on the first-hand experiences of BBC News World Affairs Editor, John Simpson. The programme aims to introduce pupils to inspirational speakers who are also experts in their respective fields and is funded by the Holloway family, who had 4 sons at New College School. The programme dubbed as ‘Holloway Lecture’ expects some 180 visitors to the free event next week.
John Simpson will be talking about his experiences as a journalist. He will be focusing at stories on global politics he has covered at the BBC, from the beginning of his career at just 22 years. He will talk on his experience as BBC’s key correspondent during the Gulf War in Baghdad; on being smuggled disguised in a ‘burqa’ into Afghanistan; as the first journalist to enter liberated Kabul. This will be really an inspiring free event for the youth.
