A free magical exhibition is running at Huddersfield Library and will be on until 23rd December. The exhibition- Harry Potter: A Story of Magic, will thrill all Harry Potter fans and includes manuscripts, books, drafts by author J. K. Rowling and drawings of Jim Kay, the illustrator. Also showcased will be Kirlees’ connection to folklore and magic. Shown here will be images of items from the collections at West Yorkshire Archive Service and Kirklees Museums & Galleries.
As part of the exhibition, there will be special events, that will be run to celebrate the 20th anniversary of of the first Harry Potter publication – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, in partnership with British Library. The first of these events is Huddswarts Magic school. The theatre workshop will get children to act as wizards, but the two sessions are already filled up.
Councillor Graham Turner remarked that that the exhibition displays will thrill families, children and adults alike and is a splendid example of working partnership. He said that the exhibition is a real family event, as the Harry Potter series appeals to both adults and children. Everyone coming to see the free exhibition is sure to enjoy it and take something away from it, he added. Other events include Wizard crafts at Tolson Museum, Bat hunt!, Craft & create Huddersfield School of Magic and Magical Creatures with Yorkshire Owl Experience.
