Free classes in self defence are being offered by a once-upon-a-time soldier at Salfords Village Hall. According to the former soldier, security is more about utilising one’s normal intelligence rather than allowing oneself to become prey to another.
The former soldier Frampton, who will be providing the free lessons in self defence for ladies and children, is currently working with a Mountain Warriors, a martial arts firm. The classes would be conducted at Salfords Village Hall located in Honeycrock Lane, and he intends giving the participants lessons on how they can take care of themselves.
People partaking in the lessons would be taught a combination of throws and holds, but according to Mr. Frampton, there is one fundamental move that always needs to be borne in mind.
He said that the most significant point to remember when one has just a little space is to do the Linford Christie, which is to simply run.
He explains that practically all the methods that he would be teaching would be how they can keep safe and at the same time try to avail of more time.
Take the attacker by surprise and while they are as yet trying to figure out what had happened the hunted would be at least 400 yards and three blocks away. He explains that though it is just common sense, not many people are aware of it.
The lessons are targeted particularly at women and children and they would be given lesson on pressure points and balance, providing them the requisite idea of how an opponent can be floored and how they can escape.
Mr. Frampton went on to elucidate that though men could also be attacked, it is more the lady who will tend to get become anxious when faced, however the main thing is to be sharp and not allow the opponent to get the better of them.
He also advised that people should try not to be made a target by making oneself prominent. He advises a person to just mingle into the crowd. He stated that many people become prey to attackers by their attitudes.
Five women and a ten year old boy attended the first lesson that was scheduled for the 4th of August and they were taught about attacks with a knife and how the handle of a broom could be utilised for defence. In spite of the fact that none of the participants had any prior idea of martial arts they were able to take home some points that they could always utilise.
According to Lauren Wright a 24 year old woman, though the lessons were rather difficult it was extremely useful. She said that it was great that they were taught a couple of things and that they would be in a position to take care of themselves. The ten year old Charlie Hubbard, hailing from Outwood said that it was entertaining and that he feels he had learnt a wee bit on how he can keep himself safe.
Further lessons will be conducted by Mr. Frampton in Salfords and Horley towards the later part of the current year.
