Salford University’s latest move will offer learning aids free of cost. By offering online study aids for free, the university becomes the eighth to offer the service in the UK. The learning aids for built environment subjects are offered for free. Salford’s Centre for Education in the Built Environment has directed this initiative. This scheme is designed for individuals and companies in the design, property and construction areas. Known as Open Resources for Built Environment Education, this scheme covers topics like sustainability and developing information modelling.
Available as a 50 hour programme, each of the available modules can be learnt online easily. These modules are used in the universities to tutor students at postgraduate level. The learning materials offered for free is divided into future skills and core knowledge. The main idea behind this free offer is to enhance the skills of the construction sector in the UK. University of Salford’s School of the Built Environment’s Aled Williams said that there is an increased need to make the knowledge available to learners, academics and industry freely.
With ORBEE, institutions can provide their learning sources and aids online in the built environment. This powerful tool can be benefited by the industry and individual learners. Northumbria, Robert Gordon Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Reading, Westminster, Cardiff and Leeds Metropolitan are other universities participating in the scheme.
